Neva's Story
I was raised catholic up to the middle of the 3rd grade. we went to catholic school, church on Sundays and holidays. My family moved away and everything changed. I never heard about or talked about God again, until 1998 in the Jackson County jail where I started going to church just to get out of my cell. Then something started to change. The more I heard, the more I wanted to know. I started talking to God and reading the bible. Things changed in me and with me.
I asked Jesus into my heart and was baptized September 2nd, 2000 at the Oregon’s women’s correctional facility. The day I went to court to be sentenced, they said I was facing 32 years. I prayed and said, Lord I can’t do 32 years, but I can do 20 years and I will do it with you. I walked out of court that day sentenced to exactly 20 years in prison. I have been in prison 17 years and have stayed close to God ever since.
Sincerely Neva
