Annie's Story
I’ve struggled with an alcohol and drug addiction, I made some poor decisions and did some time in prison. I got in contact with A Hope and A Future Ministries while incarcerated at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. I called Rachelle to ask if she would be willing to mentor me through my transition into the community. Without hesitation she offered to pick me up when I returned home and be there to support me in any way she could. The moment I met Rachelle after getting off the Greyhound, I felt comfortable and she welcomed me home with open arms. There was a backpack waiting for me, full of all kinds of goodies. Rachelle took me straight to my parole officer to check-in, then to pick out a few outfits to wear. We headed to the food stamp office and to the grocery store for some food. Transitioning into the community after being locked away from everything I ever knew was a struggle, having Rachelle by my side helped tremendously. She also helped me get connected spiritually by praying with me and taking me to church. Today I have over one year clean and sober, I’m so grateful to have another chance at life. A Hope and A Future is a huge piece of my recovery.
