Jenie's Story
Hope and a Future Ministries -- Helping Women in Crisis
A cry from a prison cell…..
Jenie was in and out of prisons and jails all her life… from the time she was 13 years old! The last time she was in a physical prison was in 2008, but this last December Jenie found herself in a prison of her heart and cried out for help!!
“In December 2017 I was ready to commit suicide. It was all I could do just to cry out to Jesus. At that moment I received an Instant Message on Facebook from Rachelle, who knew nothing of my situation. We hadn't talked in about a year. She asked how I was doing and I told her not very well. I was homeless and, knowing that her home was normally for women coming out of jail and prison, I jokingly asked if she had a bed for me. She got back to me and said ‘Yes! I will have a bed for you on the 29th.’ A few days later I was feeling an urgency about leaving my housing situation and again, in that very moment, Rachelle called me! She said she had been praying and God had impressed upon her that I needed to come to the house Now. I got on a bus the next day and came to the Freedom House. I have been at the Freedom House for almost 4 months now and I get the opportunity to sit at Jesus feet! I no longer have the desire to end my life or run from life’s problems. I have a new Hope that God has a Plan for my life. God saved my life and every single day I thank Him for His grace towards me. He loves me that much. Sincerely, Jenie”
