Danielle's Story
Danielle’s shares her story while serving a 3 1/2 year sentence at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility… June, 2018
"Being in Prison has changed my life!"
I’ve lived a hard and painful life. When I was 4 years old, I would play hide-n-seek, tag and dolls with my sisters. Those are the most beautiful childhood memories I have. Then came the divorce of my mom and dad. The abuse began when I was 4 years old -- sexual, mental and emotional -- and it continued through my teenage years. I was also abused in a way no child should be into my early teens. The pain was so bad that I turned to alcohol and drugs to numb it. At age 14 I had my first child...a precious, beautiful baby girl I named Jessica. My drug use continued though, and I had more children….eventually losing custody of them all. I lost my housing and went to jail for parole violations and some new charges, which left me facing 5 years in prison. It was there, in the Marion County Jail, that I found Jesus and was baptized….Praise God!! I also found out that I was pregnant again. Shortly after, I was sentenced to 38 months and sent to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. That is where I was introduced to Hope and a Future Ministries, who began to mentor me with visits, cards and letters. When it was near time to deliver my son, they moved me to a special unit. When my water broke, I was handcuffed and transported to the hospital under guard supervision to have my baby. They removed the chains while I labored and 4 hours later he was born. The officers and staff at the hospital treated me with great respect! The next 24 hours were one of the most difficult times of my life. I had to leave my baby with a family member and returned to prison… I cried for days. But thankfully I again turned to my Savior Jesus Christ and began working on myself. I have changed in so many ways and I am currently working on my relationship with my Mom & my children. I am getting married to my son’s Dad. I am thankful for the support from Hope and a Future and the bible & journal they sent me... I have been using them both! I am using this time in prison to learn the Word of God. Being here has changed my life.....
Please pray for Danielle. She has a long road ahead but with God's help she will come out of prison a transformed woman of God!
