Elizabeth's Story

I was arrested the week of Thanksgiving 2015. While awaiting my transfer to prison, I asked to meet with Chaplain Rachelle Benthin. She came to the jail to meet me and I knew at that moment that I wanted to focus on my faith in God again. I was so tired of the “fast life” of dealing and using meth, and I asked God to put people in my life that would guide me and help me through the journey of incarceration that He had me on. I knew He was going to prepare me to have a different life when I was done serving my time. I saw how God had saved Rachelle and was using her in a mighty way, and I wanted that for my own life.
Upon release I went to stay at the Freedom House but little did I know that my faith would be tested immediately. Within two weeks my Father got sick and was hospitalized. I was able to visit him there and be with him during the last days of his life, as he passed away shortly after. If I hadn’t have had the support and prayers of the women and my “Mom” Rachelle and the Strength of the Lord, I don’t know where I would be today. He has kept me in His hands through it all. I have seen the love of God through this program and the women here at Hope and a Future Ministries.
Sincerely, Elizabeth
